BERG Buddy go-karts for ages 3 to 8, delivered in Mayo
For a young child, the BERG pedal kart to look at is the Buddy. BERG's age guide for it is 3 to 8 years, and it is the one frame in our range that starts at three. We sell two Buddy karts, the B.Orange and the Lua, from €299.
Both are held in our own Irish warehouse and delivered within 48 hours, free of charge. Mayo deliveries are made by East West Express of Charlestown, Co. Mayo.

Which Buddy should I choose?
This is the easiest choice on the site. The Lua is the same kart as the B.Orange in a pink and green colour scheme. Same family, same BERG age guide of 3 to 8 years. So it comes down to two things: which colours the child likes, and the price.

If the kart will pass down to a younger brother or sister, it is worth asking them as well. Either way the delivery is free.
When to step up to a Rally instead
The next frame is the Rally, with a BERG age guide of 4 to 12 years and prices from €459. The two guides share the years from four to eight, so for a child in that span you are choosing between a kart that fits well today and one with more growing room.
- Age three: the Buddy. The Rally's guide does not start until four.
- Age four or five, and small or average for their age: the Buddy is the easier kart to handle now.
- Age six to eight, or tall for their age: look hard at the Rally, because the Buddy's guide stops at eight.

A first kart at a Mayo home
Many Mayo homes are detached houses on rural sites, and plenty of others are in estates in the towns. In both cases a young child on a kart needs the same things: a patch of private ground that is safe and off the road, a gate that is kept shut, and an adult within reach. A pedal kart never belongs on a public road.
Firm, level ground suits a beginner. Soft or sloping grass is harder work for a three or four-year-old who is still learning to pedal and steer together.
Delivery, Christmas and returns
Free delivery normally begins at €300. Go-karts are the exception and ship free, the €299 B.Orange included. Delivery is to the kerbside, someone must be there to sign, and we confirm the date when you order. More on the Mayo delivery page.
For Christmas 2026, an in-stock Buddy ordered by Wednesday 16 December is delivered before Christmas. Until Thursday 5 November 2026 there is also a prize draw for a BERG go-kart on our shop.
A kart can be returned within 14 days. You pay the return delivery for a change of mind. We pay it if the kart is faulty, damaged or the wrong one.
Assembly, warranty and extras
We supply and deliver, and we do not assemble karts. BERG's manual covers assembly. The warranty is BERG's own: ask us for BERG's current warranty terms on karts. We keep genuine BERG spare parts.
The shop lists a passenger seat, Buddy lights and a push handle. Ask us which fit before you add one. Questions go to 091 423 369, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age is a BERG Buddy go-kart for?+
BERG's age guide for the Buddy is 3 to 8 years. It is the only one of our five karts that BERG rates for a three-year-old. Children of the same age vary in height, so if yours is at either end of the band, ring us before ordering.
What is the difference between the Buddy B.Orange and the Buddy Lua?+
The colour scheme, and the price: the B.Orange is €299 and the Lua is €319. The B.Orange is orange. The Lua is pink and green. Apart from that they are the same kart.
My child is four. Buddy or Rally?+
BERG's guides put a four-year-old inside both: Buddy 3 to 8 years, Rally 4 to 12 years. A child who is small for four will manage the Buddy more easily today. A tall four-year-old could start on the Rally and keep it for longer. Tell us the height and we will give you a straight answer.
Do I pay delivery on a Buddy under €300?+
No. Go-karts ship free at any price, so the Buddy B.Orange at €299 is delivered free. In Mayo the delivery is made by East West Express of Charlestown, Co. Mayo.
Where should a small child ride a pedal kart?+
On private ground away from traffic, with an adult close by: a garden, a yard or a private driveway. Never on a public road. A firm, level surface is easier for small legs than soft grass.
Does the Buddy have BFR?+
BFR is not part of either Buddy's model name, and we only state what the name tells us. The product page for each kart on the shop lists what it is fitted with, or ring us and we will check for you.
Can I get a Buddy delivered to Mayo before Christmas?+
Yes, if it is in stock and ordered by Wednesday 16 December 2026. In-stock orders can also be collected from our warehouse by appointment until 12 noon on Christmas Eve.
