    Choosing a trampoline in Mayo

There are four decisions, and they go in this order: the type (above ground, InGround or FlatGround), the shape, the BERG range, and then the size. This guide takes them one at a time and adds what a garden in County Mayo brings to each: wind off the Atlantic, ground that can be wet, and a house that is often on a rural site.

Mayo Trampolines is run by Trampolines Ireland, an official BERG Premium Dealer. We sell online and deliver across County Mayo by courier. Every price below is read from our current price list, so the figures here match what you will see when you order.

    1. Above ground, InGround or FlatGround

Start here, because this choice decides whether anybody has to dig. We supply and deliver all three types. The groundwork for the two sunken types is done by an independent installer, landscaper or builder: who installs a trampoline in Mayo explains how that is arranged.

    Above ground

    €449 to €4,999

On legs, on the grass, with a safety net in the box every time. Nothing is dug. BERG's manual covers the assembly.

Suits any level lawn, whatever is under it. It stands up in the wind, so on an open site plan to anchor it.

    See Above ground trampolines

    InGround

    €339 to €1,949

Sunk into the lawn so that only a low edge shows. You choose it with a safety net or without one.

Lower in the wind than a trampoline on legs. It needs groundwork, and the ground has to drain.

    See InGround trampolines

    FlatGround

    €699 to €4,999

Flush with the grass. There is no step up and no ladder, and the view across the garden stays open.

At lawn level it catches far less wind than a trampoline on legs. It needs groundwork and ground that drains.

Wind: the question to settle first in Mayo

Met Éireann gives the prevailing wind in Ireland as between south and west, which is the side Mayo faces. Its table of weather records lists Belmullet for the highest February gust on record, 172 km/h on 9 February 1988. On the morning of Storm Éowyn, 24 January 2025, Knock Airport recorded a gust of about 156 km/h.

What follows from that is practical. A trampoline on legs with a net up gives the wind something to push. BERG's advice is that an anchor set is one of the most effective ways to secure a trampoline, that the padding and safety net should come off before a heavy storm, and that the anchors should be checked afterwards. BERG also notes that a fence or a hedge lowers exposure to gusts, so the sheltered side of the house is worth more than the side with the view.

Our own advice for an exposed or coastal site is to consider a sunken trampoline. A FlatGround is level with the lawn and catches far less wind than a trampoline on legs. In our experience a short stake in soft ground does very little, so on peaty or soft ground ask us which anchor kit suits before you order. More on all of this in wind and ground in Mayo.

The two anchor kits we sell

Both kits fit any make of trampoline standing on grass. Ground anchors do not hold in a patio, concrete or gravel. Check them after every named storm and tighten or re-seat any that have lifted. Ordered with a trampoline they travel free; on their own, delivery is €11.99.

Trampoline Anchors, 4 Pack with Straps

Four galvanised steel corkscrew anchors with four webbing straps and buckle tensioners. The straps go over the frame and can be tightened again when the ground softens.

Adjustable, and easier to take out again.

    Universal Trampoline Anchors (8)

Eight galvanised ground stakes, 30cm long, one over the frame at each leg. Eight covers most round trampolines up to 14ft.

    More fixing points. Not adjustable.

Ground: wet, peaty, stony or free-draining

Ground in Mayo changes a great deal across the county. In broad terms, peat bog covers most of the north-west, the land around Clew Bay is drumlin country, and the south-east towards Claremorris, Ballinrobe and Ballyhaunis is limestone lowland. Met Éireann puts rainfall in the west at 1,000 to 1,400 mm a year in general, more than most of the east gets. None of that tells you what is under your own lawn.

For an above-ground trampoline the ground only has to be level. For an InGround or FlatGround model, BERG's manual asks for "adequate drainage" and a check of the ground-water level, and BERG's anchor kit is compulsory for in-ground models. Whether your site meets that is for the installer to judge when they stand on it. Nobody can tell from a map, and we will not guess from a photo.

    2. Round, oval or rectangular

Shape follows the patch of ground you have. A roughly square patch takes a round trampoline. A longer strip takes an oval or a rectangle. The table shows what is in our catalogue in each shape, and the full list is on the BERG trampolines page.

    • Round: The widest run of sizes, the two smallest among them, and the lowest starting price. A round trampoline wants the same room in every direction.
    • Oval: Longer one way than the other, for a lawn that is deeper than it is wide. Sold above ground or as an InGround. BERG makes no oval FlatGround.
    • Rectangular: Made in all three types. The AeroWall, BERG's stunt wall, goes on rectangular FlatGround models only.
    • Square: Two sizes at opposite ends: a small Champion FlatGround and the large Pro Bouncer.

    3. Favorit, Champion or Elite

The range sets the springs, the mat, the protective edge and the length of BERG's manufacturer warranty. The figures in this table are BERG's own specifications, with our current prices alongside. For the first three ranges in more detail, see Favorit, Champion and Elite compared.

    • Champion: The middle range and the one with the most shapes and sizes, in all three types.
    • Elite: The same springs and mat as Champion on heavier frame tubing, with a 5 year padding warranty where Champion's is 2.
    • Pro Bouncer: BERG's top range: 16ft rectangular or square, FlatGround or above ground, with a maximum user weight of 120kg.
    • "When registered" means the frame warranty grows by 3 years once you register the trampoline with BERG: from 5 years to 8 on Favorit, and from 10 years to 13 on Champion, Elite and Pro Bouncer.
    • Favorit, Champion and Elite carry the CE mark and the GS mark (TÜV).

    4. Size

Size comes last because the first three choices narrow it. A range is only made in certain sizes for each shape and type, and the product cards show exactly what exists.

BERG asks for level ground, 2 m clear at the sides and 7 m clear overhead. So the size you can have is the level part of the garden, less 2 m on every side. Many Mayo homes are detached houses on rural sites, and it is easy to look at half an acre and assume anything will fit. Measure the level part of the garden, the bit you would actually put it on, and leave the rest of the site out of the sum.

The trampoline size guide works out the footprint each size needs. If you would like us to check it, send photos and measurements through the free garden consultation and we will compare them with BERG's manual.

Safety nets, colours and who it is for

    • Every above-ground model is sold with a safety net.
    • An InGround model is sold either way, with a net or without.
    • Round FlatGround models are sold without a net. The larger rectangular FlatGround models can be ordered with one.
    • BERG makes its trampolines in grey, green and black. Most of what we list is grey: ask us about the other colours.
    • BERG's guidance is one user at a time, with an adult supervising, no jumping in rain or wind, and no children under six.

    Ordering and delivery in Mayo

You order on TrampolinesIreland.com through the button on any product card. The trampoline travels on a pallet with East West Express of Charlestown, Co. Mayo, a member of The Pallet Network, and is set down at the kerbside. Delivery is free on orders over €300, which covers every trampoline we sell. Models in stock are delivered within 48 hours. Others typically take 7 to 10 days, and we confirm the date when you order.

Somebody has to be there to sign for it, and you carry the boxes from the kerb to the garden. A pallet lorry is bigger than a parcel van, so mention a narrow lane, a low bridge or a long unpaved drive when you order. The Mayo delivery page has the towns, the returns terms and the rest.

If an authorised Irish BERG dealer lists the same model for less, ask us about a price match. Trampolines Ireland is rated 5.0 on Google, and you can read the reviews there. Questions go to 091 423 369, or see the other guides.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of trampoline suits an exposed garden in Mayo?+

A FlatGround sits at lawn level, so it catches far less wind than a trampoline on legs, and an InGround has only a low edge above the grass. On an exposed or coastal site we suggest looking at those two first, provided the ground drains. If you choose an above-ground model, anchor it. BERG describes an anchor set as one of the most effective ways to secure a trampoline, and we sell two kits from €55.

Can an in-ground trampoline go into wet or peaty ground?+

That is decided on site, by the installer. BERG's manual asks for adequate drainage and a check of the ground-water level for InGround and FlatGround models. We supply and deliver the trampoline and can put you in touch with an independent installer, who looks at your ground and quotes you directly. If the ground does not suit, an above-ground trampoline needs only a level surface.

How much does a BERG trampoline cost?+

On our current list, above-ground models run from €449 to €4,999, InGround from €339 to €1,949 and FlatGround from €699 to €4,999. Every one of them is over €300, so delivery in Mayo is free. Groundwork for a sunken model is quoted separately by whoever does it.

What warranty comes with Favorit, Champion and Elite?+

For Favorit, BERG's manufacturer warranty on the frame is 5 years, 8 when registered. For Champion and for Elite it is 10 years, or 13 years when you register the trampoline with BERG. Padding is covered for 2 years on Champion and 5 years on Elite.

How does a trampoline get to a house in Mayo?+

On a pallet, with East West Express of Charlestown, Co. Mayo, to the kerbside. Models in stock are delivered within 48 hours and others typically take 7 to 10 days. We confirm the date when you order. Someone has to be there to sign, and you bring the boxes in from the kerb yourself. Tell us when ordering if the house is down a narrow lane or a long unpaved drive.

What do Grand, Ultim, SPORTS and Regular mean in a BERG name?+

Grand is BERG's word for oval and Ultim for rectangular or square. SPORTS at the start means that model is supplied without a safety net. Regular means above ground, on legs. The number is the size in centimetres.

Stuck between two types or two sizes?

Send photos of the garden, the measurements of the level part and a word on how exposed it is. We will suggest a type, shape and size and give you the price delivered in Mayo. Free, with no obligation.
